This week I went to the Ooltewah Cruise-In a few miles from my house. It isn’t a really big event on a good week, and this was not a good week. Probably a dozen cars there in all. And, after about 20 minutes, it started to rain and all the drivers took their cars home.
But I did get some pictures. And I found a really easy way to edit the black and white images. Because I was looking more for clean lines that high contrast, using the Adaptive B&W in Lightroom turned out to be a great place to start. For most of the images, all I had to do was add a little vignette and lower the blacks a bit to make it look better to my eye.
I only used the .5 lens on the iPhone. I was hoping to get some “dramatic” ultra wide looks, but I made a horrible mistake. I never got down low enough. I need to be near the ground shooting up at the car. It’s been a while since I shot ultra wide at a car show, and I missed a really good opportunity. The images are ok, but not what I was looking for.
But this will turn out to be my travel cameras of choice. The Leica Q2 M for great black and white and the iPhone for anything color I want. It’s lightweight, easy to operate, fits easily in a small bag, and makes editing a breeze.

First off that was great music for video.
Second I really liked the setting and water fountain.
Solid cars from the past.
The burgundy car at the end was my favorite.
But all photos were great. I’m surprised more people weren’t there.
